With a history dating back to 1764, during the reign of King Louis XV, when a glassworks was established in the village of Baccarat in eastern France, the heritage of House of Baccarat remains very linked to royalty and luxury. Indeed, it has been producing fine crystal in France’s Lorraine region since 1816 but also window panes and mirrors for about 50 years. In 1855 Baccarat won its first Gold Medal at the first Paris World’s Fair. Towards the end of the 19th century the house was trading worldwide and had become a favorite of Russia’s Tsar Nickolas II.
In 2003, Baccarat relocated its headquarters to a private 19th century Parisian mansion, formerly the home of socialite Marie-Laure de Noailles. This place located in Paris’s 16th district is a must-visit for anyone who loves design, beautiful spaces and oustanding products, and it’s impossible not to be completely bowled over by this ravishing space. With the support of twenty-five talented Meilleurs Ouvriers de France (Best French Craftsmen), Baccarat is constantly experimenting with new ideas, integrating creative input from the best young talent and major designers.
With retail stores in major cities such as New York and Tokyo, Baccarat is, more than ever, a symbol of exception and perfection. Baccarat transmits its unique expertise through technical innovations and stylistic, daring and exceptional partnerships with elite craftsmen (glassblowers, glasscutter, engravers) to transcend its excellence, becoming a major international luxury label, a symbol of French art de vivre.
We also strongly advise you to have a glance at the Crystal Room restaurant which offers an atmosphere of Contemporary French glamour. A must see in Paris !
